About
Hand-sewn bows, made with the rider in mind.
Hi, I'm Penny — founder of Best in Bow, professional ribbon hoarder, high-anxiety horse mom, and someone who somehow went from "I've never touched a pony before" to fully immersing myself in horse show life.
Back in May 2020, we bought our very first pony and I basically dove straight into the deep end of the equestrian world. Now, most weekends you'll find me ringside at horse shows, coffee in hand, "woo woo" cheering, and wondering how the ponies are cleaner than my children.
Every bow is handmade and hand sewn in my Toronto design studio — with only the centre ribbon and charm attached using hot glue. During the summer months, my studio moves to our farm, where bows are created somewhere between feeding animals, watering vegetables, and searching for barn cats who have mysteriously disappeared for the day.
Making bows has become my therapy. So has tending my vegetable garden, caring for animals, and spending time in the barn. I may live in the city, but the country has my heart.
At home, I'm outnumbered by animals and strong personalities: a horse-crazy tween daughter, a computer-loving teenage son, an entrepreneur husband, Chewy the giant Bernedoodle, our ancient mini Labradoodle Lola, Steve the barn cat, and — coming soon — more barn kittens, egg-laying hens, and two goats... Because apparently I don't believe in relaxing hobbies.
What started as making bows for my daughter has grown into creating bespoke lush bows for riders who want something special in the show ring. Every piece is thoughtfully designed, handmade with care, and created by someone who truly understands the chaos, joy, and magic of horse girl life.
Let's create something special together!
